Suck in up Egypt. The President of Egypt is jailed by the military and a lot of his people because he and his party, The Muslim Brotherhood, promised to make Egypt a better place to live. Wages would rise, taxes lowered, standard of living go up, yada, yada, yada. We Americans know the drill.
So, Egypt, you voted him in . Deal with it.
I'm a Baby-Boomer. That makes me old enough to have seen them come and seen them go. We've had some sucky Presidents in my view. Not all. Some had some areas of good common sense.
In a Democracy, you can't just toss them out 'cos they gave all the good jobs to the Muslims. Unless the Pres had shot babies, kicked kittens, or chain-sawed puppies, you gotta keep the jerk. By the way,
Hollywood, don't steal my " chained-sawed puppies" idea for your next blockbuster without paying me. Pay me in money, not movie tickets, 'cos I don't want to see it.
I admit I love to see Sec. of State Kerry squirm. He flip flops back and forth, his enormous pointy chin aquiver. He's damned if he does or doesn't. He can't come out Pro-Muslim Brotherhood because they hate America BUT were duly elected. He can't go Pro-Military Coup 'cos that's so unAmerican and anti-Democracy.
Hey Kerry, are you between a rock and hard place? Well cheer up,your yacht follows you around the world on your exploits so you can relieve your anxiety. All I have is some cheap wine left over from my birthday.
Got Common Sense?

Oprah and the perfect purse
Oprah Winfrey, don't take the purse incident racially. Take it as the rude shopkeepers of Switzerland. I am referring to the incident this week where a shop lady in Lucerne would not "show" a $38,000 handbag to Oprah who was interested in buying it. The shop lady said it was too expensive to let Oprah paruse the bag.
Later upon hearing who Oprah was, the shop lady commented that she didn't understand what "show" meant. Weak excuse lady, I would have gone with something more believable like a Swiss Banker dude just released an alligator in the lady's room and I have to go take care of this problem so I can't show you the purse.
The last time I was in Switzerland, my daughter was 16 yrs at the time, tried on a $600 skirt that I loved on her. I was willing to buy it for her even though $600 is a VERY large purchase for me. After much discussing and oohing over the skirt my daughter, the wise one, decided she didn't like it $600 worth. Women everywhere understand the concept. At twenty yrs old a $150 face cream was not worth it to me. At my age now, grandmother age, I would definitely splurge on face chemicals to keep further lizard skin from appearing . When my daughter and I left the shop, the Swiss shop lady ran after us to scold us for trying on the skirt and not purchasing it. "Why did you come in here in the first place if not to purchase?" she yelled. She fussed and fumed a minute or two and we stood in the street incredulous and awe struck. I literally did not know what to say.
We concluded that because we were festooned with Louis Vitton and were white, she thought we were rich and that $600 was chump change for us. Appearances are deceiving since I was on a student trip with my daughter and had saved up for a year for my Louis purse. Without Visa I wouldn't even have been on the trip.
We were in Switzerland for a week and found no Swiss to be kind considerate or friendly. However, I am not deterred from thinking there are nice Swiss people. I am not being sarcastic. There has to be one somewhere.
So, Oprah, with your friendly "down home" attitude and way of talking which I find extremely warm and wonderful and with my "snooty airs" that day in the shop trying not to show my sticker shock , we were both discriminated against. You for not being snooty enough and me with too much snoot that day to make up for my fiscal inferiority complex. Was this discrimination a racial thing, Oprah is black and I am white. Maybe. I don't know. Oprah and I are the same age and we both came from the South.
Oprah Honey, you got two choices here. Forgive and forget and meditate like you preach on your shows OR buy Switzerland and make that shop lady stuff that purse where the sun don't shine.
The reason I vote for the second choice is, they might mark that purse way down after the shop lady has her pursectomy and I could buy it and clean it up real good. I'll start saving for a case of Purell.
Love you Oprah!
